Inhaca Challange at Bemugi's Sunset Deck, Santa Maria, Machangulo

After 2 years the MRA Inhaca Challange finally was a reality in Santa Maria. Thirty boats and128 people enter to part of this yearly big event. The sunset deck of Bemugi's was the special place for 2022 .... sunset, water next to the deck, good food, bar facilities and a lot of energy

Bemugi's Place, Santa Maria, Machangulo welcome every client, every lodge, gilli's, community to make this event a memorable for the area.

Boats start to arrive on Saturday at Santa Maria with a lot of excitement between the gilli's.

Sunday the big opening at the Bemugi's Sunset Deck. Boat licence, fishing license , island tax was purchased with the help of Fishery, Port Captain and Marine Reserve...

Hard fishing started on Monday and end on Friday

The sunset deck lives up to it's name, offering the most pristine lookout over the western side of Santa Maria Peninsula.

Bemugi's Sunset deck is where client, lodge owners and locals join, in this calibration.

The stage and beach were packed. A lot of excitement in the air before the race while boats was lined up for inspection and selection. The sponsors select their dhow and take part in the grate race for the big price:

20,000mt / 10,000mt / 5000mt

No dhow left empty handed... drinks / hats / T-shirts / cooldrink / Mt.

All to say thanks for each family that maid time to be part of this local tradition and proud way of live

Moises and his band set the scene with good sound and song.

Bemugi , Atur and Paulo kept the action going with jokes, canoe race and cross country.

The biggest dhow regatta was held on the 4th December 2021.

What a fabulous day at Santa Maria celebrating the DHOW as transport vessel, being used in the waters of Maputo bay and to the skippers navigating them .The regatta was held at the new sunset deck , Bemugis Place and was filled with action by canoe and running race.

Procurement support in Maputo and Santa Maria

May I introduce you to Bemugi and his brother Jamnadas, who can assist with the procurement support in Maputo

As mentioned they have been providing this service for a while to the Machangulo Beach Lodge and also on behalf of various home owners at Machangulo Estate on the peninsula.

Here is a summary of the way they work:

1. Attached is a list of items they can buy for you. You will need to fill in the volumes and supply the buying list at least 3 weeks before the trip.

2. Jamnadas will provide a costing on the list for your approval. You can then edit the list if you wish to change and provide a final list.

3. Funds will need to be transferred to them to go ahead with the shopping on the day before your arrival ( electronic transfer)

4. The goods can be delivered to your charter boat, which avoids the transport fee of a separate dhow of Mets 3,500 (to be confirmed), if required.

5. The service carries a 20% handling fee on the cost of the goods bought. This will save you a lot of time and take care of the bulk of your requirements in advance.

6. If you require it, the refrigerated salads, diary, fresh and frozen goods will be transported in cooler boxes on the boat/dhow and will be returned to Bemugi after unpacking at the house.

Blue Wave has been stranded since 15 October at Ponta Abril, Santa Maria. Alex and his team have been residents since 15 October at Bemugis Place, Santa Maria, Machangulo. Not withstanding all the challenges, the tides, the weather and cost. Alex never give up, new plans and big smile every day. Come and support Alex and his team on the next high tide at Bemugis Restaurant's chicken and fish is always good ending to a hard day.
